What I remember about Arty...

Tell us what you remember about Arty

Arty's Mom
Arty was our second born son. His older brother only lived for two hours.
We were most excited to be given another son.
It was not easy to raise Cheryl and Arty on SCC (now Vanguard University)
campus. We lived in a glass house where we were observed daily by the
college kids who came over. Our children knew no other way than to share us
with the college kids. Arty and Cher attended church and Sunday school
regularly. They had perfect attendance in Sunday school for years at a time.
Art and I are grateful that we took time
1) each morning to take our children into the living room and read the Bible
to them and discuss it on their level. How we got dressed, had a southern
breakfast, packed the lunches and made the beds before that daily time of
studying God's word and praying; yet still got to work on time remains a
mystery to me. It was a priority.
2) took the time to fellowship around the table both morning and night with
the kids. There was always a lot of laughter at our home with the special
humor God gave to Art, Cher and Arty.
3) took the children to church regularly.
4) didn't interfere in their marriages. Rather, we just prayed for them
daily that they would remember the teachings of their childhood.
B will always remember Arty's willingness to help her around the house after
her third back surgery. Cher and Grandpa Budge were there to do the work for
the first two. She will miss his great neck and foot rubs, his jokes and the
fact that he was her prayer partner.
Sure, our hearts are sad that we won't see Arty again on this earth. His
spiritual soul is with the Lord; for to be absent from the body is to be
present with the Lord. We don't understand the appointed time table each of
us has with the Lord but we do know that God does all things well.
There is so much that we remember about our son. The most important is that
he loved the Lord, His God, with all of his heart, soul and mind and his
neighbor as himself.
